    Reply sits in Outbox (2002)

Frequently, when I reply to an email, the response sits in the Outbox and does not "send." If memory serves, these are always business emails - i.e. those going to a person whose email is handled by the business server. Can you explain or tell me if my Outlook needs tweaking? Sometimes I am impatiently waiting a reply - and find that my message is still on my system! I can always copy the text into a new message and send it, but should I have to?
    Thanks.

Yes, I am. In fact - once I realize what's happened, I can open the "old" email from the outbox, copy the contents, resend (and it will continue to sit in the Outbox), open a new message, enter the email address & subject, paste in the message and SEND. Both messages co-exist in the outbox briefly and then the new message sends and the old message continues to sit. The only difference is the old message is a reply.

It sounds as if the Exchange Server is having trouble resolving the name to something it recognises when you hit Reply. Have you raised this with your IT Admin?

It is a stand-alone computer in a home-based business: no network, no server, no IT Admin.

Go to Tools | Options | Mail Setup Tab. Make sure Send immediately when connected is checked. If it is, then this may be a bug that was fixed in SP2 I believe.

Okay - thanks. My version is the original, I believe.
