Links to Other Workbook (Excel 2000)

I have a file that whenever it opens, it asks whether I want to refresh the links to another workbook. I looked in the file, there's really no links to another workbook. Anyway to find out why ? could there be hidden links or links that appear to have been deleted.

There might also be links in range names. Click on Insert>Name>Define, and inspect any range name references.

Try Navigator Utilities for finding all those hidden links which can appear in all sorts of esoteric places such as in Names, behind buttons or shapes, buried in charts, etc. The Link Navigator can also be used for listing all links in a directory of files, or even performing global replacement of paths when a group of files moves to a different server breaking all the links!

Navigator Utilities has heaps of other useful utilities for navigating around large spreadsheets.

(Edited by HansV to update link to Excel MVP site)

Download the FindLink add-in from Excel MVP Bill Mannville from the Excel MVP Page.

After installing the add-in, you can use it to find (and break) all links.
