    Menu/Toolbar Actions (Excel XP)

We are running Windows XP SP-1, Office XP SP-2and DOCS 3.9.6 Build 51. We are able to run all other Office application fine locally without evoking DOCS, but in Excel the menu items (open, save, print) are default to native locations but using an icon (open, save, print) on the toolbar causes it to look for DOCS. So my question: are the macros for items on the menus different then items on the toolbars?

OK I really don't understand the question, past <<< are the macros for items on the menus different then items on the toolbars? >>> and to that I answer, it could, but usually programmers use the same code that would do the same action, for the toolbar button and menu.

So to Open a file, the menu item and the toolbar button action entry will have the same name of the procedure to open a file. This is the sensible thing to do, but its not mandetory.

Example, the Print menu in Excel for example, shows the print dialog, but the print toolbar button bypasses the dialog. Now it still can be the same code, with a test of what object activated the code, don't worry about it.

From what I gather you are getting two different behaviors from Excel in regards to DOCS, is that the case?

    Hope this makes sense.

I confess first that I have not worked in a live DOCS set-up. From what you are saying, in accessing Open, Save and Print through Excel's Worksheet Menu Bar File|..... command, you have no problems. OTOH the Open, Save and Print icons on the Standard Toolbar have macros attached that call DOCS. (Perhaps this is also the case with the standard Keyboard Shortcuts for the same commands: Ctrl+O, Ctrl+S, Ctrl+P.)

Are you asking if these icon macros can be disabled - so that the default commands can be reinstated? This may be possible using VBA, but it depends on the security controls in your DOCS installation.
