WordXP Mouseover Bubble Help text? (XP SP-2)

    Hi,

I am designing a form in WordXP and want over the Field Descriptors/Headings for a bubble to pop up with text to assist the person filling in the content. Similar to what Excel offers (see attached scrn. shot).

Word's comments with XP (also on scrn. shot) are placed on side of screen which look cheesy and disturb layout of form on screen.

Can I somehow get a similar bubblehelp as with Excel in Word?!

    TIA,

    m.q.

    I'll try that thanks man.

Another feature (flaw) of XP's Comment option is that the label is fully editable by the end user by simply clicking in the bubble and replacing the template text.

    Regards,

The comments are meant to be end-user comments, not fixed help texts...

Word 2002 doesn't have something like that in general, but if you use form fields (from the Forms tool bar), you can add a short status bar help text that will appear automatically when the user enters the form field, and a longer help text to be displayed if the user presses F1 in the form field.

    Hi Phil,

Check out the attached variation on the same theme. In this case, I've bookmarked some text and hyperlinked to the bookmark. I think this works better ,as it allows you to draw attention to the associated text (if you want to) and to have the pop-up appear if the mouse hovers over any part of the bookmarked text. Your equivalent required the mouse to hover over a single space (which wouldn't be evident if the screen wasn't displaying them), or over a text box (which might have difficult remaining visibly associated with the text if word-wraps come into play during editing).

BTW, the tip can be up to 255 characters long.

    Cheers

    Hi macropod:
Yes. I like your variation better. I think I was trying to imitate Excel's little red triangle.

    Hi Musab:
I just got back in town & saw this. One option that you have is to imitate Excel's comments (somewhat) is to use a hyperlink to nowhere. Type a space & format it as red font. Bookmark it. Select it & insert a hyperlink. In the dialog box, use a space or two as the display text & type your bubble text in the Screen Tip text. See the attached.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi,

When I checked this last time it was Ok.
Now when I just re-downloaded the Word File & am hovering my cursor, there is no bubble-help?!

Am I doing something wrong? You can see the attached scrn. shot for a view of what I am seeing (i.e. no bubble help)
