    Folder and file names

When I create new folders or files i sometimes want to capitalize their names. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Does anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do to allow capitalization to work when i want it to? i'm using windows 98 with the problem being in word 98 and excel 97.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Folder and file names

    Hi Tom:

I'm not in front of a Win98 machine right now, but if you have TweakUI installed, there is an option to allow all uppercase letters for folders. Otherwise, you can use all lowercase, or capitalize the first letter. If you use all uppercase, without the option checked, you end up with the initial cap. You can also do a mixed upper/lower case.

Look in the software forum for the TweakUI URL.

    Hope this helps.

You can find the option for allowing all uppercase filenames without TweakUI also (although I really like TweakUI).
From any Windows Explorer window - View | Folder Options..., Click the "View" tab, then you'll see the options near the top.

The View-Folder-Options, then View Tab has the "Allow all uppercase names" for at least my installation of Windows NT (but note that I've installed Internet Explorer 5.5 --- which seems to have changed some of the dialog boxes I get within Explorer):
