Checking source and saving a web page from the net

    Hi,

I have been looking into methods of being able to compare web pages to see if the content has changed (it may seem a bit strange, but I have my reasons!) I now know how I am going to do this, but I need to be able to save the web content locally before my method will work.

The problem is that the page I want to save has some coding in it that greys out the File, Save as button and also greys out the View Source options in Internet Explorer. Does anyone know of any way round this?

    Thanks

    Lauren

    Hi, Lauren ~

Is the right-click disabled? If not try that to view source. If you are able to do that, save it as a text file, edit out the javascripting that disables those features, save it as an HTML, then run it.

You can also open up a new text document, enter:<pre>Download This</pre>

Save it as an HTML, open it, then right-click the link > 'Save target as...' to download it. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Bruce's method might be faster than this: find the page in your cache (Temporary Internet Files) and copy it into another folder.

Great thanks! I never thought to try the Right Click - it works a treat!

    Thanks again
