Formatting custom document properties (Word 2000)

Is it possible to format custom document property fields? Specifically, I'm pulling information from Access and plugging it into Word documents (compliments of some code from Helen Feddema's website) and would like to format telephone numbers in the style (555) 555-1212 as well as zip codes in the traditional format. As far as I can find, there seems to be very little on this subject. Can this be done? If so, how or where can I find information that addresses this issue?

    Thanks,

Use the # switch - for a telephone number it would look like

    # "(000) 000-0000"

To insert a switch, display field codes (Shift+F9 or right click the field and select Toggle Field Codes). Type the switch before the closing field bracket }. The online help contains information about field formatting switches.

Hans, thank you ever so much. That got it.

I had been focusing strictly on custom document properties at the expense of fields in general but still don't ever remember running across that tip. So, was that just general knowledgy you had squirreled away or is there a specific reference I can check out and read some more about field switches?

    Regards,
    Bill

In this case, I dug it up from memory, but the online help contains information about formatting fields with switches.

You can find an overview in Microsoft Word--General Switches for Field Codes.

Thanks once again, Hans. Now, I'll away to take a look at the overview article.

    Have a good 'un,
