    search key error message (2000)

    Greetings All!
Got a database with several memo fields. I opened the back end to spell check in the main table. During the process of changing and ignoring, I got an error message that would not let me continue my corrections.
"The search key was not found in any record"
My options were OK & Help.
Any suggestions or fixes? Lemme know if you require further info.

    Thanks!

First, try a compact and repair (in Tools | Database Utilities...)

If that does not help, check which service pack of Jet 4.0 you have. The current one is SP7. Select Help | About... in Access, and click System Info. Look up the version of msjet40 in Loaded Modules.

    SP3: 4.00.2927.4
    SP4: 4.00.3714.7
    SP5: 4.00.4431.1
    SP6: 4.00.6218.0
    SP7: 4.00.7328.0

If you have SP5 or earlier, download and install the latest update from ACC2000: The Updated Version of Microsoft Jet 4.0 Is Available in the Download Center.

See ACC2000: "Search Key Was Not Found in Any Record" Error Message During Compact or Save for more info about the error you experience (even if it is not during compact or save).

Thanks Hans. Perhaps the IT group will find this as an excuse to update Microsoft on local computers. (I've just enough knowledge to be dangerous, but don't rank for adding software/patches to my work PC per network permissions)

Will this cause any problems other than annoying me?

I can't judge how badly you need to be able to spell check tables with memo fields. If it is essential for you, go ahead and ask IT to update Jet for you; if you can live without it, it may be to much trouble.
