    Freecell

Friend of mine has an old laptop running Win98 on which the display in Freecell has the cards normal height but less than 1cm wide, which makes it somewhat hard to play. I have replaced her Freecell.exe with Freecell.exe from my machine (also running W98) but with no effect, so I guess the fault must be in one of the other files that Freecell uses. Is there a program that will tell you which other files are needed/used by exe files? Other programs on the machine seem OK, eg Hearts displays normally.

    Hi Michael,

You could try replacing cards.dll, which is used by Freecell. Of course, if your friend has installed some other software with its own version of cards.dll (eg Solitaire from Win 3.1, I think), that software might no longer work ...

    Cheers

    Hi Michael,
It was a long time ago but I remember reading a MSKB article about Freecell when I was playing it on Win95. Sorry I haven't got the number to hand but HTH.

Thanks to you all, I did try downloading a new copy of Freecell but it would not install properly. I finished up by re formatting the hard drive and reinstalling W98, that cured the problem.
