    BBQ

As the weather has been so nice here in Edinburgh the past few weeks we have had several BBQs. We are having another one this Saturday (hopefully the weather will hold) and I am looking for some nice tasty different recipies. I always make the same things!!! Burgers, sausages, baked potatoes and salad - with hot banana and chocolate to follow.

Any recipies and cocktail ideas (without having to buy half a dozen different spirits)?

    Thanks

    Re: BBQ

I don't know how the weather is over there, but we're hearing a lot about the heat wave, so I'm guessing these will be welcomed concoctions:

    Grasshopper AKA Girl Scout Cookie
    On ice or frozen
1 shot of Creme de Menthe (must be the green kind)
1 shot of Creme de Cacao (must be the clear kind)
regular cream - not milk, and not heavy cream
Put the two shots on ice then mix in the cream until it turns the color of melted mint ice cream - the end result should taste just like melted mint ice cream. (You can have fun testing but be careful!!! it really tastes TOO good) If you want it as a frozen drink, add the ice and double (at least) the shots (the shots must stay equal) to the blender and mix in the cream. It's a little harder to get the right mix when it's frozen but WELL worth it when it comes out right! As added extras, before you pour the drink in the glass, pour chocolate syrup around the glass AND get Thin Mints from your local girl scout (any minty cookie will do I suppose) and drop one at the bottom of the glass then add the mixture. Yum.

    Chocolate Covered Bananas
Mix ice, Creme de Cacao and 99 Bananas (not sure if you can get this by you, but it's a banana liquor that's 99 proof, hence the name...be very careful with it!) This is great frozen, you can mix in real bananas and real strawberries too.

You can also use the 99 Bananas in normal Strawberry Daiquiris. These are all thanks to my soon-to-be sister-in-law... she made these for us at the last party we had and they went over famously. For really easy, there has also been a lot of flavored vodkas around... I've been changing up my usual screwdrivers with vanilla vodka... it tastes like a creamsicle!

    have fun!

We soak a chunk of Mesquite or Hickory wood as long as it takes for the charcoal to burn down. The wood is added to the fire when we add the meat. The moisture causes it to burn slowly and smoke. This adds a wonderful flavor to the meat. While my husband is outside doing his thing, I take the first steps in making one of our favorites, Smoked Potatoes.

    1. Peel, cube (1 inch) and steam or boil until cooked as many potatoes needed.
    2. While the potatoes cook, melt enough butter to generously coat the potatoes.
    3. Add the following to the butter: Bacon bits, chives, pepper, Parmesan cheese and any other baked potato topping you enjoy. I usually add Mrs. Dash season mix also. You will have to play with the amounts.
    4. When the potatoes are done, coat with them with the butter mixture and put them into a metal steamer basket. I punched many holes in a
