Changing Dates to Text (Excel 2000)

I did not see a format function in Excel. I want to create a formula to change a date to text, or to preserve the date formatting when I use the field in a pivot table. Is this possible?

    THanks for any assistance.

Check out the Text() function in help. I think that it is what you are after.
