    Troubleshooting SMTP connctions (2000)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

I am trying to setup my MS-Outlook 2000 to receive e-mail from a POP3 account, but yet send e-mail suing my Juno account.

The steps I took so far:

    1) Setup the Account... Tools | Accounts | Add | Mail...

    2) In the Display Name, I put in my name,

    3) In the E-mail addreess I put the one from the POP3 account,

    4) In the Incoming mail POP3, I put pop3.server.net

    5) In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) I put smtp.juno.com and I provided the account name and password as I use them in Juno.

Now anytime I have an outgoing e-mail, I get the error:

The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server (Account: 'pop3.server.net', SMTP Server: 'smtp.juno.com'. Error Number 0x800ccc0f

    OK now what?

    TIA

    Wassim

What are Juno's instructions on this. Do they have a support page for Outlook Express? It should be basically the same for Outlook.

    Jefferson <img src=/S/crybaby.gif border=0 alt=crybaby width=15 height=15> Oh I finally got to the gist of things.

In one very obscure paragraph on their support web I found:

At this time, you cannot use other e-mail programs to get or send your Juno e-mail. For this reason, Juno's POP3 and SMTP mail server addresses are not available.

I suppose this is a new change, because I know version 5.x, their latest version other than NetZero's version 6.x , could get other POP3 accounts' messages.

So I guess its not a problem on my side.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am still using NetZero and Outlook. I know that they (NetZero and Juno) are trying to drop ALL support of SMPT and POP3.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
