    window size ie 6 (98 2nd ed)

Since updating my IE, when I open a second window such as clicking on a link and choosing open in new window, the new window opens at half size. I have tried dragging a corner to resize it but when I click a new link IE does the same thing. On my XP machine new windows open at full size like my other computers used to do. Any ideas? It's not a big deal, just annoying.

After stretching the window, it might matter how you close it. I have read here the suggestion that you hold the shift key when you click the X in the upper right corner. Or was it the ctrl key? Or maybe use File

Oh yeah, I forgot the shift key. I'll try that. Thanks.

    Jefferson and jrclen--

The Ctrl key usually works for me, and I've seen hints with the shift key but the operative word is usually. I don't know of a guaranteed way. I have been resizing windows to help make screen shots smaller to get the resizing out of the way up front it I can, and "resize/Ctrl key close" has been 'knock on wood' working well in XP/IE6.

And it has been working well whether it's a folder including Explorer even on OE, and I know OE has been a problem for some people because it doesn't like to remember full window size under a lot of circumstances. There doesn't seem to be a definite 100% sure-fire cure for window resizing, even using the Registry and I'm not sure if this varies with different operating systems. I wonder if the Mac users have any window resizing problems.

It's called Windows---you'd think they'd have it down by now.

Thanks, I'll give the control key a try.

Nope, control doesn't do it either. My second window is half size no matter what I do.

Re: window size ie 6 (98 2nd ed)

I have this happen many times. I get mixed up between the Ctrl & Shift key, so I click the X with BOTH keys. However, that isn't enough. It must be the last window closed (why I don't know). So,
    1. Start IE.
    2. Open a new window.
    3. Resize the new window.
    4. Close the original window.
    5. NOW, click the X with the shift & ctrl key pressed.
    6. Saying the alphabet backwards. Well, it can't hurt, can it? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Hope this helps,

Another trick, is to resize by DRAGGING and then use the MENU, File, Close. Then restart IE.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Hi, JR ~

Make sure you have all other instances of IE, OE, and Messenger closed when trying the above methods.
