table grid lines (Word 2000)

I have a table with clip art and want to know how to get rid of the lines around it.

Re: table grid lines (Word 2000)

A table has two kinds of lines:
- Borders that are visible on-screen and will be printed.
- Table grid lines that are only visible on-screen, but will not be printed.

The first kind is governed by the Format | Borders and Shading dialog. Click somewhere inside the table, then select this menu option. Make sure that "Applies to" reads "Table", then select the "None" setting and click OK.

The second kind is governed by the Table | Show/Hide Gridlines option. (The caption changes with the setting). Please be aware that tables are hard to locate if you hide gridlines.

File/Print Preview is useful, to see what your doc. looks like without hiding gridlines.

Or you can press Alt+Ctrl+U to remove the borders. Hope this still works in 2002.

Yep, Alt+Ctrl+U still removes table formatting in Word XP (it is assigned to the TableUpdateAutoFormat command which does much more than just remove borders.)
