cut/move multiple cells (Excel 2000)

I need to move data from one cell to another and I'm wondering if there is a way to automate the process (as opposed to cut& paste) since it is a very long worksheet. I've attached a sample below - what I want to do is move each date so that it is adjacent to the other info - i.e. move C1 to A3, move C6 to A8, etc

(Edited by unkamunka on 19-Aug-03 19:37. inclusion of reformat of Column A for Date display.[doh])
A SIMPLE method is to put the following formula in A3
=IF(ISNUMBER(C1),C1,"")

Then hover your mouse over the bottom right hand corner of A3 until it turns into a little cross. Click and hold down your mouse button. Then simply pull as far downwards in Column A as necessary. Please post back if you require help on, say, getting rid of the intermediary rows.

You will, of course, have to change the format of Column A to Date display.

That worked beautifully and, yes, I do need help with the intermediary rows.
If I just delete them, the formula and result go with it.

    Thanks very much

Re: cut/move multiple cells (Excel 2000)

This should solve both your problems: Select Cell A1. Choose: Data|Filter|AutoFilter. Click on the Arrow at the right hand side of A1 and select NonBlanks. Click on 1 in the very first Row, continue to highlight the Rows until you reach the bottom of the list. Choose Copy. Move to an empty Worksheet. Select Cell A1. Choose Edit|Paste. You should now find that you can delete your original Worksheet.
