Columns off on page 2 (SP - 2)

In WordPerfect there is a code that is called DELAY which allows you to for example, turn off columns when page two is created. How does one achieve this in Word XP. I am creating a file that has two columns on page 1 but I want to turn them off as soon as we reach page 2. This is a court document and has to be set up this way. The information typed on page 1 can be any indeterminate length. We are using Word XP - SP2

Also how does one do a seach in this Office Portal?

    Regards

Word "thinks" about these things somewhat differently to Word Perfect. You set the number of columns for each Section of your word document. If you want 2 parts of the document to have different numbers of columns then you put a section break in between them.

At the end of Page 1 you can Insert > Break > Section Break > Next Page.
Then set the correct numbers of columns in each section.
You can add text to page 1 after you have inserted the new section, if you add more than a page worth then the first section will spill into a 2 column page 2, and the second section will start on Page 3 - is this acceptable?

In reply to your second question, unfortunately searches have been disabled whilst the administrators look for a new more powerful server. See <post#=250092>post 250092</post#>.

Thank you for your quick response. The answer is "NO" it is not acceptable. We do not know if there is a page two at any given point and we do require one column on page 2. (or no columns really).

Either you have to copy the excess that won't fit on page 1 to the page after the section break, or switch back to WordPerfect.

There are ways to flow text through TextBoxes, but for workaday documents, that would be nightmarishly complicated. You'd normally only use it for time-intensive layouts like newsletters.
