Installing Access XP and Access 97 (Acc XP and Acc 97)

Has anyone had any experience with installing both versions on a Windows XP box. I am needing to do this and was wondering if there is a correct way to do this, or if there are any tips or warnings out there !!

    Thanks

Make sure that you install the 97 version first, and the XP version after it. You must install to different folders, but that shouldn't be a problem since Office 97 by default installs to C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice, and Office XP to C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10.

If I remember correctly, the .mdb association will be hijacked each time by the version you run, so you may want to set up shortcuts for both versions.

There are some articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base about this very thing. Unfortunately, I seemed to have lost the article #'s.

There is a rather general article OFFXP: Running Multiple Versions of Microsoft Office.

It's not quite the same, since Office XP by default installs in a different folder ( ...Office10), while the default locations for Office 97 and Office 2000 are the same (...Office).

But the whole idea is to install them in different folders. So this is not a different situation than installing A2000 and A97, just easier because the default directory is already different.
