XL App Error (97:SR2)

Has anyone encountered the following error message when opening XL. I've checked the HELP and was unable to resolve the issue.

This can come up when you have an erroneous file listed in Tools|Options|General|Alternate startup file location [near the bottom of the dialog]. HTH

I checked the alternate location and did not have anything there. If I recall, I only had the default location set.

After poking around, I found a temporary file in my XLSTART directory. I deleted that file and everything works just fine. I'm not quite sure how the temporary file got there but ran a virus scan on my system to ensure the issue was not virus related. I wonder if the temporary file was created during an unsuccessful save of the Personal.xls file. Well that's my take on it.

The XLSTART directory was the other place to look. Glad you've got it sussed.
