    Speeding up query (97)

    I have a table in my informix database which contains well over a million records.

    What I am doing is extacting a portion of the data into a table in access using a recordset and a passthrough query.

    The line of code is as follows:
    Set rstNL = dbs.OpenRecordset("qryPassthroughSelectNLTrans", dbOpenForwardOnly)

    And my passthrough query looks like this:

    SELECT NL_TRANSACTIONS.*
    FROM NL_TRANSACTIONS
    WHERE NLYEAR="03";

    It works and currently takes about 30 minutes to extract all the records, but I was wondering if there is perhaps a faster way to go about it.

    Regards

    Do you, in fact, need all the fields in that table? Usually a query that specifies the fields returned is faster than one that uses the * to select all fields.
