    Sort by format (97 SR-2 (h))

    All,

I have a spreadsheet that has many lines, formatted with 2 different background colors, all mixed. I need to sort by background color.

Ex, I now have (G=green line, Y=yellow line)

    G
    G
    Y
    G
    Y
    Y
    Y
    Y
    G

    Instead, I need

    G
    G
    G
    G
    Y
    Y
    Y
    Y
    Y

I've tried the Cell function, but that will only tell me colored/not colored. I need to be able to sort by specific colors.

This spreadsheet is too big to manually mark each line.

If I can't sort by color, what about an "IF...ELSE" that is something like "If cell A1 is green, "G", Else "Y"" kinda thingy (then I can sort by G/Y). I can write the IF statement, but how do I recognize the color of the cell?

    Any ideas?

Chip Pearson has a page full of Functions For Working With Cell Colors and a page about Sorting By Color with code and examples.
