    SysTray Manager for Win 2K

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

One of the features I like about Windows XP, is that the System Tray can be expanded on demand, and collapsed by default.

Is there any utility for Windows 2000 Pro, that can handle my ever expanding SysTray in a way similar to the Windows XP one?

    TIA

    Wassim--

Tray Wizard is one <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> and if you google there are a number of others.

I downloaded this, and I will try this utility. I need this, because now my systray has about 25 icons and some I have no control over, because I have a Sony Vaio laptop, and I truly don't have any control over what they gave me.

I will need to FDisk and get started from scratch.

Ouch. You have that many programs starting upon boot?

The tray manager will help you, but to echo cbd--go after what you really want to start up with and that'll trim your notification area--there are also start managers, because if I understand correctly, you don't have the XP MSConfig startup tab with Win 2K. You can goggle for Startup Mgrs--they've been on the lounge before.

You can get MSCONFIG for Win2000 right here Win2000 MSCONFIG After you download this go to Start, Run, and type MSCONFIG. A window will come up, then click on the Startup Tab and you will see the list of things thats running on Startup. Uncheck the ones you don't need Running on Startup, that doesn't mean they won't work when you need them, just means their not running on Startup. Having that many programs running on Startup is not necessary and will slow your Boot time down significantly.
