    macros in word

somehow i lost the macros i wrote (sorting a table) in my word files. when i use the keyboard shortcuts it responds "can't find library or project" then dumps me to a visual basic (empty) window. i can open the file that has my macros, but when i try to save it to normal.dot (?)it replies that i don't have room on my disk (not true).

any suggestions, short of saving all files, then re-installing word? (i hate the thought of re-setting all my preferences.)

thanks! (a newbie to this site)

If you can access the macros why not copy them to a module in normal.dot. ?

Or export the modules, (in VB right click the module and select export. It will export as ModuleX.bas, or whatever alternate name you give it). Then Import that module into normal.dot.

    >(i hate the thought of re-setting all my preferences.)<

Just as an aside, you can create a macro that will restore all your preferences under Tools/Options & Autocorrect. In fact, to record a macro for this, all you have to do is start the macro recorder & click on each tab under Tools/Options, then click OK. Then do the same for Tools/Autocorrect... & stop the macro recorder.
