Combo box woes (Access 2000)

Hi everyone,

I need some help on giving some advice to the budget dept downstairs on their database. They have a database on the server that is for Purchase/Travel. From that Server, one person "liz" has been given "edit" access to a form with a combo select box .

OK, she is using the MasterTravel form. The main form is with the directors' information (so she can type information in once if she has a new person) with the travel form as a subform. The combo-select box is at the top to select the director name. The form is linked to two tables, and they are in the same database on the same server.

The form works fine from the computer that actually created the combo box before it was put onto the server, but it doesn't work on "liz's" computer when she tries to use it. Any ideas what wires might be crossed here?

"It doesn't work"

Please be specific. Can't she open the form, or can she open it but not enter anything, or does she get an error message, and if so, what error message and where does it occur?

The email sent to me said the box would not open. I have to swing by there Monday afternoon, and thought you might have some ideas before i start pokin' around in it. I figured she had give "liz" only add permissions, but she said, "no, I gave her edit permissions on the form"...
I am suspecting without sure information whether the box didn't drop down, or she saw nothing in it would be my first question on Monday when I check it out. At least thats a starting place. HOW doesn't it work for her...sorry Hans...popping in here without enough info...I may be back on Monday... After I poke around...if I can't figure it out me-self. Re: Combo box woes (Access 2000)

Ok,

She has full rights to the form, after supplying a password.

I checked on the admin side of the server, and all the bulleted items I mentioned above were in fact in place. This database is on a server, and when clicked on through other department (same office) computers, the combo box drops down just fine, and it works like a charm. It just doesn't do so on this one persons computer for some reason I can't figure out. It is just a FIND combo box anyway. It is not an imperative part of the form. The top of the form (This is a Purchase/Travel Form), has the combo box drop down and it chooses a Director name from a list of names from the Director table, in which the second portion of the form automatically opens to a all entries for that director.

I'm going to include a dummy copy of the Purchase Order table so you may take a look at the FrmTravel and tell me if there is anything that looks amiss in it.
I truly don't think there is, (if it works on everyone elses computer except hers), but you may see something I am missing. If you have any ideas, please respond.

Thank you,
Nannette

It seems there is something wrong with her installation of Access. If she didn't have enough rights or something like that, the combo box should still drop down, only it wouldn't let her select anything. I've never heard of a combo box not dropping down before.

Do combo boxes on other forms in the same database work for her (on the same PC)?
Do combo boxes on forms in other Access databases work for her (on the same PC)?

Re: Combo box woes (Access 2000)

She is only allowed to work on this form because she has full rights to it when opening the database. Everything else on the Main form doesn't concern her. The Combo box DOES drop down...and she can select a directors name if she wants, but it does not change the data in the second part of the form accordingly to that directors information. (Just on her computer)...She doesn't have access to other forms, nor does she use other combo boxes.

If the combo box drops down (contrary to the original message), but selecting an item has no effect, she MUST have insufficient rights, so check and double check this again.

Will do. I just assumed that the person telling me the woe did in fact do so, because I asked her on 3 different occasions. Never assume, hey? Thank you Hans,
