    A & B Floppy Drives

Just reformatted and installed WIN 98 SE in an APTIVA 233 MHZ system. Everything is working fine except I have two floppy drives - A & B. The A drive does not work. The B drive recognizes the floppy disks. Checked in the BIOS and it shows FLOPPY A enabled and FLOPPY B (None). How do I get rid of the extra floppy drive?

#1. You need to make sure the Floppy Drive Cable is pluged in to the Floppy Drive Correctly. The connection on the end with the crossed wire is the one that plugs into the Floppy Drive For A drive, if it is pluged into the connection in the middle it will make it B drive.
#2. If you do have it connected properly, then look in BIOS and see if "Floppy Disk Controller" is enabled, If not, it needs to be Enabled.

Tis a MIRACLE - turned the system off last night - turned it back on this morning - lo and behold, the B drive reference was gone and the A drive is working as it should. Amazing. LOL
