Averaging between ranges (SR97)

    Hello,

    I am trying to get an average in a specified range of values for a set of data that I generated. Would anyone have a suggestion of how I should do this without the use of VBA? I have attached a sample spreadsheet.

    Thanks in advance, Hanan.

    The attached modified workbook uses array formulas to calculate the averages.

    First, I believe your example contained an error. It should have Averaged the range B3:B19 but instead Averaged B3:B8. If I am correct, then you can get the results you want by entering the following array formula (press and hold Ctrl+Shift down when you enter the formula) into the cells indicated:

    In F3 enter:

=AVERAGE(IF(A3:A2764<=$E$3,B3:B2764,""))

    In cell F4 enter:

=AVERAGE(IF((A3:A2764>E3)*(A3:A2764<=E4),B3:B 2764,""))

    Copy the formula in cell F4 down to cell F51.

    The attached workbook should show this.
