Re: Sobig Redux Maybe!

We've been trapping Sobig-F-infected messages at our internet mail gateway at a peak rate of one every 3.6 minutes.

It;s been around for just less than a week, and, since it came out, we've had more Sobig-F viruses trapped on each of the two peak days than the TOTAL of all viruses that were trapped in the whole of July.

    Hi All

    Thought I'd pass this on.....

When I click on SMBP's link "So Big: What You Need to Know........", I get the Spybot warning shown below. This only happens the first time I click on the link in each instance that I'm in this forum.

Note that the download was stopped just before the banner advertisement at the top was loaded.

    Have a Great day!!!

I think "Avenue A" is one of the goodies from ad.doubleclick.net. I have doubleclick.net in my DNSKong filters, so they never get a chance to load in the first place. This proactive blocking of known undesirables means far less work for virus checkers and other vetting utilities, and faster page loads.

    Hey Ken,

Somewhat off of the original subject, but you ought to check out Mozilla which gives you alot more control over what images and other stuff are allowed.

I have a proactive blocker--there are a bunch of free ones, but I get that box very rarely so once in a while something can weezle through I guess.

You might want to change your surfing preference to Prompt for Download signed ActiveX controls for the Internet zone (Tools>Internet Options...>Security>Internet>Custom Level...). I suspect you have Enable set.

    Hi All

My "Spybot" post was just a general FYI post and didn't indicate any aprehension on my part.....but thanks for all the input .

Mike.......I use Mozilla (Firebird browser and Thunderbird email client) at home but at the office I'm stuck with IE and Outlook. (I've got enough software installed on my office computer that our IT person doesn't like, but allows, that I don't push for Mozilla ).

    Have a Great day!!!
