Counting records? (Office XP)

Hello,
I have a spreadsheet in which I use the auto filter. The formula that I use to calculate the results of a particular filter is SUBTOTAL which works great. What formula would I use to count the records. I tried COUNTA but that counted all of the records not just the filtered ones.

Thanks!

SUBTOTAL too . Your subtotals probably use 9 as first argument. This corresponds to SUM. If you use 2 instead, you count the number of numeric items (corresponding to COUNT), and if you use 3, you count the number of non-empty cells (corresponding to COUNTA).

Hans, you're great! How do you know all this stuff!
You're right, it did use the argument of 9. Now I'll have to see what the other numbers do!

Thanks again!

You can look up the SUBTOTAL function in the Help index. You'll find all valid values.
