    auto-disconnect

I have been mildly irritated by Auto-disconnect for a long while, but now I have an incentive to try and kill it. I have been trying to upload a zipfile of photos to my new and as yet empty album on my ISP's photobox facility via their FTP routine: drag the zipfile from windows explorer and drop it on to the album, and the file transfer begins: I go to bed and in the morning nothing has arrived. I suspect that auto-disconnect has operated. Is there a way to disable auto-disconnect?
    All help gratefully received!

    Re: auto-disconnect

    Hi,

    From Internet Explorer, try:
    Tools|Internet Options|Connections|Settings|Dial Up Settings-Advanced
and uncheck the 'Disconnect if idle ...' option and the 'Disconnect connection when no longer needed' option.

    That should kill the Auto-Disconnect.

    Cheers

Or it could be controled by your ISP.

    Who is your ISP?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: auto-disconnect

Yes, I wondered if the disconnect were being managed by the ISP - I don't recall this coming along during the reign of Compuserve or LineOne. I am now with Freeserve, and thought it unlikely that they would shut down file transfers to their own photobox.
Most likely at some time I have clicked sleepily on "restore defaults" somewhere - I would NEVER do that when awake!

    Re: auto-disconnect

Yes - I found it - thank you very much. The script beside the Settings button had seemed to suggest that these were just the proxy server settings.

Now we'll see whether auto-disconnect was what was preventing the completion of the file transfer.
    All help gratefully received!
