    Number format

I have a user with a strange problem. Whenever she types 1700 in a cell - it changes to 5:00 automatically. We have changed the entire sheet to be general, we have closed and opened a new sheet and still it says 5:00. Any other number works fine, i.e. 1500 is 1500. Any ideas??

Hmmm, check "Format, Style, Normal", and see what the number setting is, and review Control Panel, Regional Settings Currency and Time for unusual settings.

Does this apply to all worksheets and all workbooks ?. If so could you upload a blank workbook from that users PC so that we can have a look. It is possible that there are some event driven macros in the background causing a problem.
