    date autoinserting (2000)

Any ideas why, when starting to type a month such as 'august', Word pops up a highlighted area with 'August 28,2003'?
And why the date that pops up is NOT the current date. I've redone the Control panel date umpteen times, but the pop-up is always yesterday's date.
If I do an 'insert' 'date', it is the correct date.
Thanks for any help you can give.

If you select Insert | AutoText | AutoText..., there is a check box near the top of the dialog that governs this behavior (Show AutoComplete Suggestions or something like that). If you turn that off, the oh-so-helpful <img src=/S/nope.gif border=0 alt=nope width=15 height=15> date suggestion won't come up. Neither will Word suggest to complete AutoText entries for you, but you can always press F3 to do that.

No idea why the date would be wrong (it is stil August 28 in your and my part of the world, isn't it?)

Perhaps it is hardcoded to the Redmond, Washington time zone? But seriously, you might double-check your time zone to see if Word is on the "wrong" side of the International Date Line.

The time zone is set correctly for Central time. This is the only 'date' function which displays the wrong date. Most puzzling.

Thanks, Hans. I'll try that when I get abck to work.
Yes, it's still the 28th in our world, but perhaps the computer is possessed or in an alternate universe. Most strange!
