Error message on every start up

I am not sure whether this is the correct forum, but I'll try.
My harddrive has 3 partitions C,D and E. All I have on E is a Disk Image of my C drive which I then back up to another computer so I always have a full version back up of everything. This saved me a couple of months ago when this computer was totally wiped out. I was able to install XP and then transfer the image from the old computer bringing everything back.
But!! Everytime I boot this computer I hear two small sounds and the system event log has the following message:

The server service was unable to recreate the share Disk Image because the directory Eisk Image no longer exists. Please run "net share Disk Image /delete" to delete the share, or recreate the directory Eisk Image.

Eisk Image does indeed exists. It is now my latest back up. I have tried to run the "net share Disk Image/delete", but this command is unknown and results in nothing.

Does anybody have an idea what this is about?

Maybe turn off sharing and then, assuming you need it for your backup process, re-create the share. This MSKB article has the steps for NT and 2000:

Event ID 2511 Is Logged After You Delete a Shared Directory (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 124170)

An alternate approach would be to run Computer Manager (right click my computer and select manage). Navigate to Shared Folders, Shares and right click on the offending share in the right hand pane to delete it.

Do you delete and recreate the folder Eisk Image each time you create a new image? This could possibly cause the problem.

It's not as simple as having "Eisk Image" in double-quotes, is it? You'd certainly need to use this form if you were going to do a NET SHARE...

No, not just sharing. I tried to stop sharing of E, but the error message came up unchanged.

Re: Error message on every start up

I have checked the Computer Manager Shared folders, Shares, but the only reference to E is the actual partition E. Rightclicking does not give an option of Delete.
This is the way I back up.
Using a floppy with Norton Ghost I start in DOS and then copy partition C as an image to E. Ghost will dump the old image and write a new every time. I then copy from computer A (this one) to computer B partition E. On computer B I then again boot up in DOS, floppy Norton, and go from image on partition E to partition C. I then have an exact copy of computer A on computer B. My harddrives are: C and D in NTFS and E in FAT32 on both computers.

This is the exact text and phrase from system events (copy/paste).

I don't have the foggiest idea what the answer is but I do want to suggest that the MESSAGE in question might be coming from somewhere within the bowels of NORTON software. I think I'd concentrate my search there. Must be something in that double-imaging process you're doing that's leaving a remnant of log file or code somewhere.

I will give it a try. Normally Norton loads automatically on start up. I' try to disable that and see what happens.

Re: Error message on every start up

    One of us is confused.

You state that you have a file called Disk Image in the Root folder of the E drive - E:
The error message talks about a shared folder called Disk Image - Eisk Image

Have you ever had a folder called "Disk Image" or has this only been the name of a file?

You may be able to fix this error message by creating a FOLDER on E: called Disk Image

With both Norton and ZoneAlarm disabled at start up the error message is the same.

Stuart, sorry it is me <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20> . I am not an expert, just an ordinary user.
I have a file folder on E named DiskImage which contains 3 files named Steen-001.GHS, Steen-002.GHS and Steen-C.GHO

One more thing you could try.

Right click on the folder Eisk Image and choose Sharing, click on "Share this folder". At the next convenient time, reboot your computer. Then go back to the same screen and unshare it again.
