    Word XP SuperForm! (XP SP-2)

    Hi,

I want to make a form for engineers who fix PCs in Word but it should behave like a webform.

So at the parene level, the user will choose WHICH TYPE of hardware, if he selects from the drop-down list "Printer", THEN a section with the vendors should come up, e.g. "HP, Magna..."

Then if he chooses "HP", it should give the next drop-down list with the models, e.g. "LJIII, LJ450..."

What my aim is to automate as much of the form as poss.
Pls. tell me the BEST WAY to go about doing this.

Can I download examples/samples or templates for this?

    TIA,

    m.q.

Although it probably can be done in Word, it is not the ideal application for this. Why not use Excel, or better still, Access?

A VBA UserForm gives you more control than the type of form that resides in the body of a Word document. However, you have to format your own output (print? e-mail?). Presumably you will need a database to hold the various drop-down list options. Or maybe an INI file. How to share and/or distribute and update that database/file presents one of the bigger challenges in this project. A web-centric model probably would be best from the standpoint of easiest administration.

Pls. give me more details on the web-centric model, i.e. info resources on how it's done.

    TIA,

You can get a detailed view by examining some of the commercial "trouble ticket" or "help desk" software products. Google has a list in its directory:
