    Wirless/Future Dial

Windows 98,.... trying to install a "cell phone" as a wirless modem using Future Dial (limited tech support) Basically what i need to know is how to change the comm port from 1 to 3, on a modem. (The cell phone shows up as a Sanyo modem on comport 1) needs to be on com port 3.

Maybe I am crazy for posting here.
    sorry for the inconvience

    Re: Wirless/Future Dial

Am not familiar with future dial, but can tell you that there is a big difference between hardware based modems and software based modems. Modems are not created equal! Software based modems create a "virtual" com port which is very difficult if not impossible to change. If you go to control panel/modems and click on the properties of the modem in question, a software based modem will show like the picture below.

A hardware based modem will have a dropdown allowing you to change the com port it uses.

Many people presume that all external modems are hardware based, but many are not. If you see "controllerless" on the box, then it is software based.

Only other suggestion is to search Sanyo's web site for an updated driver or contact future dial for instructions on modifying the port used for their software.
