Forwarding Mail in Outlook (Outlook 2003)

My updated beta copy of Outlook 2003 insists on sending forwarded messages as attachments. In previous versions the forwarded message would appear in the body of outgoing e-mail. Now all I get is a blank message with an attachment listed at the top of the screen. I have recipients who are leary of opening attachments. Is there a way to change the program to operate as it did before so attachments can be avoided. I have looked through the program options and the help screens and I can't find a way to change this "feature"?

Define "My updated beta copy of Outlook 2003"?

I am running Office 2003 on one machine and am NOT having this problem.

Who is your ISP? Some have been known to do weird things to email.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Forwarding Mail in Outlook (Outlook 2003)

I have the "Technical Refresh" of Beta 2. EarthLink is my ISP but I don't think that is the problem because when I click the "Forward" button the screen that comes up to address the forwarding message has the original message "attached" as an attachment. The body of the forwarding message is blank. This all happens before Earthlink has a chance to touch the message.

As I was typing this response I realized I have a program called "PKZip Attachments" running. It installed automatically when I installed PK Zip and is designed to compress attachments for mailing. Could that be the problem? After I send this message I am going to close PKZip Attachments and see if that changes anything...

Closing "PKZip Attachments" did NOT fix the problem...

I do not have 2003, I hope the menus are similar. What is your setting under Tools | Options | E-Mail Options | When Replying to a Message, and, When Forwarding a Message?

That's it! When Forwarding a Message was set to "Attach Original Message Text." Changing it to "Include Original Message Text" fixed the problem! I have looked and looked for that setting but couldn't find it.

    Thank you so much!
