    Auto Run options (Office 2000 Pro)

    I am very much a novice when it comes to Excel and sharing them. What I am trying to do, for my girl friend, is to take a Excel spread sheet put it on a CD and have it auto run when she inserts the disc. I tried using this formula and various alternatives with no luck, [autorun] open=Pre Install Questions and Notes.xls, . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance for your help and time.

    There is a freeware utility called AutoRunPro available from here (scroll to the end of teh page).

    It is a zip file with a small readme.txt explaining how to use it.

    Re: Auto Run options (Office 2000 Pro)

    Thank you Andrew for your link. I did d/l it and tried to modify it but with no sucess. Following is how I modified the inf file:
    [Autorun]
    open=AutoRunPro.exe /s

    [AutorunPro]
    Run1=Pre Install Questions and Notes.xls

    I put this plus the autorun.exe file on CD (plus my target file) and still no luck. Any further thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for your help again.

    Sorry for the dealy in responding.

    I have tested this and it works fine for me with XL files.

    Make sure

    1. You have AutoPlay enabled.

    2. The filenames you are using in your inf file are correct.

    I notice you say you put autorun.exe on the CD. The file to use is AutorunPro.exe, which you should extract from the downloaded zip file.

    Apart from the above I have no further suggestions.

    Andrew.

    Andrew, success finally! I had renamed the INF file when I changed it so the result was that the Auto.exe could not find it. Thank you for your patience and time on this small matter. Now I can become a autorun monster with my CD's!
