    Blue Bar (2002)

Attached is a portion of a document using track changes. After paragraph 2 and before Section XI, there is a blue bar that for the life of me, I cannot get rid of. I've tried Alt F9 to see if it's a field code but nothing shows. Any ideas on what this is, how I get rid of it, and how I keep from getting it in the future?

It looks like a comment, with text "Not sure how this got here. Subject is covered in VIII.3.". If I click on the comment, I can click the "Delete comment" button on the Reviewing toolbar.

Thanks! I never would have figured that out. There has to be an easy way to view comments that I haven't figured out. Please tell me what it is. Thanks again for your help - you guys are GREAT!!!!

You can open the Comments/Tracked Changes pane (in Normal View) to detect the presence of comments, and you can "browse by Comment" using the funny dot at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar and the funny arrows above (previous) and below (next) it to visit them. Otherwise, if you zoom at 500% and imagine the two characters ( and ) smashed together, of course it becomes instantly recognizable. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

Word 2002 has an option in the Tools > Options area which allows you to see markup such as Comments when in Page Layout view. I can't recall the name of the tab it sits on but it is there. If you can't find it, let me know and I can check on my other machine to tell you which tab it is on.

Turning on balloons on the Track Changes tab seems to do it.
