    Changing default font (Front Page 2000/WinXP)

    I know this has been mulled over in the past, but I can't remember if there was a solution. I've been away from using Front Page for about a year and have upgraded since then.

    Can someone tell me if there is a way to change the default font in Front Page? I would like to change it from Times New Roman to Arial. I may change that depending on the web site I am creating, but normally I would use Arial. I know I won't use Times New Roman on any site, so sure would like to dump it in lieu of using Arial. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    If there is no fix for this, then is there an easy way to change the font for all pages in a web site?

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

    You can define or redefine a style. Probably the quickest way is to paste something in to the HTML pane, you then can return to the styles dialog and look at how FP likes to manage the information.

    <style>
    body, p, td {font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans }
    </style>

    This is from memory, so don't hold me to it!

    Thanks Leif,

    I do understand what you are saying here and it makes perfect sense. The URL you suggested was also very helpful and I have saved it in my favorites so that I can read all of the tips there. It is very helpful.

    Thank you so much again.

    Hi there,

    This is all starting to make sense to me. I would like to ask you one more question though. I'm confused about the line you included in your post. I would like to create my websites so that I provide an option to the three fonts you typed in that line. Sometimes I see the line start out with "font face" and sometimes with "font-family" Can you tell me the rule of thumb as to when you would use either of these texts? And also, can you tell me if there is a way to automatically enter these font information to all my pages, or is it more advisable to do that manually?

    Thanks for the help. It is much appreciated.

    I don't know what the "law" is as to how a browser must interpret these different attributes. I generally use font-family if I am listing more than one.

    But of course, for efficiency you use a separate stylesheet document. You then import that style sheet into all of your documents with a line in the HEAD section similar to:

    <LINK REL="stylesheet" TYPE="text/css" HREF="global.css">

    For an example of the kind of power that stylesheets can have, play around with Quick Skin Switch the style sheet changer for the lounge. Here we let the user change the look <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>. Pretty cool, all those changes, just with stylesheets. Plus its kinda fun too.
