Using word to edit e-mail messages (OutlookXP)

When using Word to edit e-mails, if Word is not open, Outlook opens it in the background (ie it is not on the task bar). Is there a way to make Outlook open Word in the foreground?

    Thanks.

Are there any known problems with using Word as an e-mail editor. For example, does it cause problems if macros are created in Word?

    Thanks

No, macros aren't usually a problem. Autorun's might run when outlook starts, although it's been a long time since i used an autorun so i can't say for sure.

The only real problem is sluggishness, but it's much improved in Outlook 2002/2003. We even allow employees to use word as the editor now - we disabled the option in Office 97/2000. (Word as the editor is really bad in Office 97 and 2000 and is generally not recommended.)

    MaryJ,

It is very reassuring to know that you don't get any problems with macros when using Word as the e-mail editor. That gives me a lot more confidence. A few days ago, however, someone was shutting down and it said to close all Microsoft Word applications before shutting down. It appeared to have a template loaded in memory still. Is that something you have come across?

    Thanks.
