    Tables Disappeared (A97)

    I have the security manager installed on a database here at work. For some reason, I can't see the tables in my database anymore. When I try and click on the Tables Tab, I get the error "Operation Invalid Without a Current Index". I know the data is still there because I can still run all my queries, reports, etc...I can't go play with the indexing settings in the tables though because I can't see them! Any ideas?

    It seems Microsofts JETCOMP.EXE should do the trick.
    I saw a link earlier on the site, but can't remember which one.

    You should find it easily enough if you do a search either on the MS site or Google.

    In running this utility, should my 'From' and 'To' database be the same (i.e. the one that's acting up)? I tried building a blank database and compacting 'To' it, but I got an error message that says "Error compacting"...

    Firstly, have you backed up the database, ie copied it.

    You should choose the source database (From) and then in the To section, use a different name (One thats not being used).

    So
    From = MyDatabase.Mdb

    To = MyDatabaseTEMP.Mdb.

    You can rename the new database after you've checked it works.

    If the compacted database is in A97, don't select version 4.x as the database format or you'll toast it. A97 is version 3.x format and JetComp *always* defaults to 4.x, so be careful.
