AutoRecovery is Postponed for normal.dot (2002)

Sporadically we are getting a message "autorecovery is postponed for normal.dot". You just click on okay and it goes away for awhile. I haven't been able to find anything on microsoft's knowledgebase on this. It doesn't happen all the time and it is hard to recreate. Any clues?

Are you using a % sign in a filename? Not sure if this article will help.
    Cheers,

no. no percentage. I saw that article -- we are not getting the first part of the error message in the article. Thanks.

I couldn't find anything else on the KB either. As a guess, if you set autorecovery for one minute, & do something that changes normal.dot like cutting to spike (select text & press Ctrl+F3), is it postponed if you do an actual save just before it's ready to recover? It may be that certain activities, such as a regular save, postpone it...but I'm guessing.
