Office SP2

Has anyone applied Office SP2 and cannot open email attachments such as a Word document?

describe "can't open" - and is this in outlook? docs are not on the dangerous list, so it shouldn't be from the security feature - but many others are blocked as dangerous.

User indicates it is in Outlook and he receives message "cannot open attachment..... Right click and associate file..." even if it is a Word or Excel document. One of the attachments has a file extension of .doc.

You say "User indicates...", have you checked this PC yourself?

I have had similar reported to me and have found the either the extension is not valid, as in .doc or whatever, or that the File Type under Folder Options (Windows Explorer) have "disappeared".

    Re: Office SP2

We finally contacted Microsoft on this. We had to edit the Outlook security folder DEEP under the registry (current user, software, microsoft, office, 9.0, outlook, security)to C:WindowsTemp. It was trying to "save" the file into a folder on his DVD drive! Microsoft's only suggestion as to why this could happen is that he could have loaded the initial software from his DVD drive! Thanks for all your suggestions.
