Opening Outlook XP triggers request for Office2000 (Office XP)

I have Office 2000 and XP both on the computer with no problems until - Virus scan was hanging so I uninstalled Gator (yup, should have long time ago) and WordPerfect Trial version (because of the files causing Norton problems). Ran Disk Doctor - found and fixed some file problems (cross-linked?) and could identify files - nothing to do with Office that I could see. But NOW, when I open Outlook (XP, of course), it prepares to install Office 2000, asks for the 2nd disk for Office 2000, and even if I put the disk in, I get error 1706 message twice. Once I have clicked Cancel enough times, I'm into Outlook and it seems to function properly. All the other apps from both Offices run.
What did I trigger? This will eventually get quite old.
    Thanks

I guess having WordPerfect trial version did upset the Microsoft applications. Ha ha... No Just kidding.

I think I have seen this behavior before and it was due to the following:

    1) Had a PC with some Office 2000 apps installed.
    2) Upgraded to Office XP.

Since the application was not fully unstalled/loaded in 2000, it asked for both CDs, 2000 and XP, and you would expect that, but it was OK from that point on.
Is your PC in a similar to this siuation?

Re: Opening Outlook XP triggers request for Office2000 (Office XP)

I have Office 97, 2000 and 2002 on the same computer - intentionally. They are loaded in different folders and there has been no conflict until this latest incident. (I only have the latest Outlook, of course, because I don't think you can have 2 of those on the same pc). Now, everytime I go into Outlook, I have to click CANCEL twice (2 requests) to get past the dialog box that thinks it needs to load Office 2000 and asks for CD #2. Incidently, I do have a profile on Outlook, if that makes a whit of difference.

    Thanks
