    Managing Messenger? (english)

I have XP. I have Messenger. I would like to either get rid of Messenger or tame it so that it does not keep coming back, logging on or trying to log on. Would removing it actually cause Outlook Express to die? Any suggestions? Its behavior is now approaching harassment.

Start it up, go to Options and clear settings which will strat it up. See attachment below.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Hi, Linus ~

In addition to Dave's suggestion, you will also need to right-click and exit Windows Messenger from the icon in the system tray, then:<UL><LI>Open OE > 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'General' tab<LI>Check 'When starting, go directly to my Inbox folder'<LI>Uncheck 'Automatically logon to Windows Messenger' > 'OK'[/list]

And a tip o' the hat to you and to Brucekrymow. Let's see how stable these fixes are. I was getting a bit heated. LinusF
