    Buttons On Worksheet (XP)

Hi. I'm trying to make a little addition game for my 6 year old daughter. So I've got 3 cells (operand1, operand2, and result). I want to make it clear that you type a number in operand1 and then move to "operand2". The way that some "grownups" might think about it is: okay, press the "enter" key. But I thought: wouldn't it be cooler if you you put a little button next to operand1 and had her click the button with a mouse? Yet this "simple" thing turns out to be a bit of a pain. If, for example, you type "9" (without clicking pressing <ENTER>) in cell "B2", and then try to click a button right next to "B2", the button doesn't raise an event until you press <ENTER> to complete your action in "B2". Regardless of whether you think the user interface here is "cool"--how would I accomplish this? In other words, how do you get a button to respond to a mouse click while the focus is still in another cell?

    Thanks...

I do NOT think you can click anything while in edit mode. you must get our of edit mode.

How about instead of entering into a cell you enter into a textbox. the textbox has no "edit mode" so you can add to it and still click. You could place it over the cell of interest and set the "linkedCell" property to the cell underneath so it acts like a cell that you can edit and still click the next key.

Thanks Steve. I think that might do the trick. If you don't hear further from me, assume all is well.
