    Repeat dummy text for demonstration purposes (Word XP)

    Hello,

    As a corporate trainer, I sometimes need to create dummy paragraphs. I have read about a command that allows this (something like r(and, 3) which would create 3 paragraphs of dummy text). I cannot remember the exact syntax. Anyone remember this?

    Regards,

    Fixed! Dummy text problem

    I've found out the syntax is: =rand(). Inside the parentheses, type in the number of paragraphs you want to appear.

    Thanks!

    You can also use a second parameter of sentences per paragraph, for example

    =rand(3,20)

    will give 3 paragraphs of 20 sentences each.

    Can you guys give more some more information about that command, and maybe use it in context? I haven't been able to use it in VBA for Word XP either in code or in immediate mode.
    Thanks.

    It works in the body of the document. At the beginning of a line, type
    =rand()

    Then press <enter>. Or you can enter numbers separated by a comma for lines & paragraphs. e.g.
    =rand(4,2)
    & then press <enter>. It will only work if it's the first thing in a paragraph.
    Cheers,

    And "Tools > AutoCoorect, Replace while typing" must be checked.

    Thanks for reminding me, Klaus. I've had that checked for so long that I've almost forgotten it could be turned off. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
