    'Runner Error' (WinXP)

I get the following error when I boot up: Invalid BackWeb application id "4929610".

What is it and how do I cure it?

I believe it is spyware. I removed it from my computer with Spybot. They claim they are not,but you can decide for yourself. Seems to me if they have to dedicate time to explaining why they are not, they most likely are. BackWeb is a client-server
Here are some of the programs in comes with. Here Such companies as Compaq, HP, McAffee, F-Secure, Western Digital, Logitech, Kodak and IBM are some of BackWeb´s customers.

    From the "Pest Patrol" site:
    -----------------------------------------------------
BackWeb is a generic, background downloading tool that software vendors can incorporate into their product to download data (e.g. product updates) to the user's PC. Its operation depends on the instructions given to it by the individual software vendor who bundles it.
    -----------------------------------------------------
Use Spybot to get rid of it.

Hmm, is this why I can't download Windows updates? When I click on Start Download, nothing happens.

Don't know, but you need to get rid of any Spyware, which likes to take things over, including Backwebb. Have you run Spybot or Adware, both are free? If you haven't you need to and the sooner the better.

I've run Ad-Aware and SpyBot and the Runner Error still pops-up. I'm going to de; Kodak EasyShare and d/l it again. That's the only program that I have that uses BackWeb. We'll see.
