Hyperlink in Protected Sheet (Outlook 2000)

    Hi

I have protected spreadsheet except for data entry, I need to create a hyperlink to a form from what is entered into the cell, but hyperlink is greyed out.

    Any suggestions please.

    Unprotect the worksheet
    create the hyperlink
    Reprotect the worksheet.

    Hi

Steve I need the user to add the Hyperlink but don't want to give them access to the formulas.

You could have them add it on another (unprotected) sheet and then have them run a macro which:
    unprotects the other worksheet,
Copies the appropriate hyperlink to the appropriate spot
    reprotects the other worksheet.

Re: Hyperlink in Protected Sheet (Outlook 2000)

You could use the HYPERLINK function. Let us say the sheet to jump to is denoted in cell A1 and the cell in cell A2 (as text:

    Sheet1
    A1

And you have a formula in cell B1:

    =HYPERLINK("#'"&A1&"'!"&A2)

Your users can now type sheetname and celladdress into cells A1 and A2 and use the link in cell B1.

    HI Jan Karel

I like your theory but the forms to hyperlink to are not in the same workbook they reside in a folder on the server.

    Thanks

You can have them add the path also and the HYPERLINK function will work.
