PROBLEMS SWITCHING DOC FROM APPLEWKS 6.2 TO WORD (MAC 9.2, APPLEWORKS 6.2)

It looks like I need some information on what Version Word is involved.
An acquaintance of mine has written a book in Appleworks 6.2. She wants to put that into the MAC Word she now has. She has gone into a Word document and put in the identical margins, type size and style, then is importing the document. The page breaks are 1 line off from the original.
    How can she fix that?

    Hi Julia:
I have no experience with using Word with the Mac. However, a couple things come to mind. First, it might be the printer or printer driver. Under Tools/Options/Compatibility tab, is there an option to "Use printer metrics to lay out document"? If so, try changing that & see if it makes a difference.

One last thought. Is the document justified? If so, under Tools/Options/Compatibility tab, there is an option to "Do full justification like Word Perfect6x. for windows". Mac may have somethign similiar. If so, change that option, as it changes the spacing between words.
    Hope this helps,

Frankly, I'm totally amazed that they match as closely as they do!

My thoughts are: there can be subtle differences in font heights if the fonts are not identical (which typically requires identical printer configuration on Windows, not sure about on the Mac); Word can be set to show or to suppress blank space at the top of a page caused by the Space Before setting in the paragraph format (Tools>Options>Compatibility), and this could be handled differently by the two programs.

    Thank you, Phil,
Thought I was answering yours and instead answered the other response. Both of you seem to be saying about the same thing. I will try it out.
    Thanks,
    Julia
