New forums

It would be nice to have one or more forums to discuss content in each of Woody's sponsored newsletters.

Some of the newsletters (e.g., E-mail) span multiple products, but in most cases there is a product-specific board (or a product-lilne board such as General Windows Solutions or General Office Solutions) where you can expect at least some of the folks to have read the most pertinent newsletter. Just remember that may of our inboxes are overburdened and we might take a while to catch up.

Re: New forums

I don't think the average person would look in a forum marked "Light Relief | Books / Ezines". I know I didn't. In the last month there are only 2 threads, both related to Woddy's books, so everyone else appears to be in the same boat. And, I don't think "Light Relief" would be a proper classification for serious discussions. Why not try a new standalone forum for a while and see if it attracts any participation?

Re: New forums

I'm not sure which newsletters you have in mind, but I personally would be opposed to say, an Access forum and a separate Access Watch forum, or splitting the discussion of Word issues between the Word board and a board that discusses the Word issues discussed in the newsletter. Once we get all the posts back under a single roof with search working, keeping things topical (which already is a big effort for the Moderators now) will have been worth it. I promise.

Re: New forums

At one time we had separate Ezine and book forums. There was very little traffic in either so they were combined. As you can see, even today we get very little traffic.
As Jefferson stated, most people post their comments in the related Subject matter forums. This way those that hang out in the Access forum most likely also subscribe to the Access newsletter.
