Multiple references for one footnote? (Word 2000)

Is there a way to insert multiple footnote markers for one footnote? I have a footnote that applies to several places in my document, but when I attempt to copy and paste the footnote reference symbol, it creates several of the same footnote. I would just insert that symbol in the correct place elsewhere in my document, but for some reason I can't seem to find the symbol to match it under Insert | Symbol (it's the six pointed asterisk, not the five pointed one that you get when you press Shift+8). Any help is greatly appreciated.
